Hard forks are the result of a software upgrade or a change in the rules governing a particular blockchain. Contentious hard forks result in a “chain split” and two distinct blockchains.
In the case of a major hard fork (a Bitcoin hard fork, for example), users are advised to withdraw their affected cryptocurrencies to an external wallet whose private keys they control. Deposits and withdrawals of affected cryptocurrencies on the ICONOMI platform may be temporarily suspended during a hard fork event to ensure the safety of our users' digital assets.
